Liquid crystal on silicon (LCoS) Technology
LCoS is a "micro-projection" or "micro-display" technology typically applied in projection projector. It is a reflective technology similar to DLP projectors; however, it uses liquid crystals instead of individual mirrors. By way of comparison, LCD projectors use transmissive LCD chips, allowing light to pass through the liquid crystal. In LCoS, liquid crystals are applied directly to the surface of a silicon chip coated with an aluminized layer, with some type of passivation layer, which is highly reflective. LCoS technology can typically produce higher resolution and higher contrast images.
LED advantages
In addition to allowing ever more compact design, LED light sources provide several advantages over conventional lamps including immediate projection readiness, a long running time, and swift switch-off. The current development is the latest in a long series of technical breakthroughs for LCOS projectors. One of the very first companies to enter the projector market, Oculon has stayed ahead of its competition by continually providing features and technologies that offer users real benefits. The company will continue to place top priority on developing market leading projection projects for a wide variety of applications and locations.
Oculon projectors bring the latest and greatest technology into a competitive product lines.” says Spencer Wu, General Manager of Oculon Optoelectronics Inc. “Oculon aims to satisfy the toughest customers’ demand; I believe we can do it with this new generation projector.”
